About Us...

The Southland Motor Car Dealers Association was established in 1932 and represents the majority of new car and truck dealerships in Southern Los Angeles County.



WHO WE ARE
The goal of the Southland Motor Car Dealers Association is to provide programs and services, and address and be responsive to the needs of its members.  It seeks to speak and act on behalf of those members in communication with organizations and individuals who share its automotive interests.
   
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is extended to all persons, firms, or corporations holding a direct factory franchise and is actively engaged in the business of buying and selling new automobiles and trucks at a regular place of business in Southern Los Angeles County.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to person, firms or corporations with a direct relationship to the automotive industry, and who provide services for dealer members.

AREAS OF FOCUS ARE
To politically represent franchised new car dealers.
To inform, update and educate new car dealers, their employees and community.
To promote the retail automotive industry.

MEMBER CONCENTRATION
The scope of members encompass dealerships in the cities of Bell, Bellflower, Carson, Cerritos, Downey, Gardena, Hawthorne, Lakewood, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Norwalk, Redondo Beach, Santa Fe Springs, Signal Hill, South Gate, Torrance, Whittier and Wilmington.

COOPERATION
Although SMCDA is a totally independent organization; it maintains close communications with the National Automobile Dealers Association, the California Motor Car Dealers Association and other metro car dealer associations.

SMCDA-PAC:
The Southland Motor Car Dealers Association has a Political Action Committee (SMCDA-PAC) to provide a funding mechanism to support or oppose city and/or county candidates and issues that may directly affect members’ interests.
